Daily Devotional. Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, THAT I WILL SEND A FAMINE IN THE LAND, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, BUT OF HEARING THE WORDS OF THE LORD: And THEY SHALL WANDER from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall RUN TO AND FRO to seek the Word of the Lord, AND SHALL NOT FIND IT. Amos 8:11-12. If there was ever a time like Amos was talking about, IT’S NOW, and it’s going to get even worse. People ARE running from church to church, coliseum to coliseum, looking for someone to preach them the Word. People charge money for you to go hear them in some big 3 day event. People charge you for all kinds of self-help books with 10 steps to make your life better, “how to” all kinds of things, never ending paying for, What, GOD??? People get so busy in their daily doings that when they actually DO stop to look at the Word, they stop, look at their watch, and say, “OK God, I’ve got 10 minutes, whatcha got for me”? And to show how sincere they are, they’re chewing gum!!! “Times up God, thanks I needed that, gotta run and get the kids”. Can anyone stop for 1/2 hour, go to their prayer closet, AND JUST BE QUIET BEFORE THE LORD? So the first 20 minutes are full of goofy thoughts, can you press on and just LISTEN anyway? Try this for 5 days in a row, watch the mental clutter start to fall away, as you actually start to hear from the Lord in His Still Small Voice. it’s almost unheard of these days. (Did you catch that, “unheard of”)? Pastors, Teachers, Joe Sheepers, can you do this? Or are you too busy? Preachers, are you too busy running around “taking care of” the congregation? Moms, are you too busy trucking the kids to STUFF to learn and do? Dads, are you too busy with work to take time to TAKE YOUR FAMILY TO THE THRONE ROOM AND SHOW THEM AROUND? ARE YOU TEACHING THEM WHERE GOD LIVES AND WHAT HE LIKES??? Dad, if you don’t, NO ONE ELSE WILL! DAD, YOUR KIDS ARE GOING TO DIE SOMEDAY, DID YOU TEACH THEM WHERE TO GO TO, BE BLESSED?
