Daily Devotional. THIS PEOPLE DRAWETH NIGH UNTO ME with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR FROM ME. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. Matthew 15:8-9, 14. This is Jesus talking to the scribes and Pharisees of His day, yes, and this also describes anybody whose heart is away from Christ, and also talking about people teaching the commandments of men AS IF they were true church doctrines. The only thing different from then and today, is the year. Sheep and goats are still sheep and goats. This is STILL the problem after 2000 years. Denominations, sects, religions, whatever else you want to call them around the world, ARE ALL FULL OF MAN’S COMMANDMENTS. Most are based on man’s commandments. A few are mostly based on God’s Commandments. Everyone else is somewhere in the middle. Does this step on some toes? I challenge you to do this, then check your toes. It makes no difference if you’re a Preacher, Teacher, or Joe Sheeper. Write down EVERYTHING your church does. Now compare your list, to the bible, going through Holiness, Righteousness, Purity, Obedience, CHRISTLIKENESS, heart attitudes, Faith, Boldness, and Love. Are you doing EVERYTHING with the Mind of Christ? If not, is some of what you’re doing, with the Mind of MAN? The doctrines of man? Check Jesus’s Toes, have you been stepping on His???
