Daily Devotional. And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses… And they said, Hath the Lord indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the Lord heard it. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them; and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, SHE was leprous. Numbers 12:1-2, 9-10. So, what’s the problem here? By today’s standards, there is no problem. All we have here is Miriam and Aaron talking against the church Preacher. By TODAY’S standards, we do it all the time. I guess things have changed from then to now. Now we can talk against the Preacher and see, nothing happens. We’re in the age of forgiveness. Right? Notice, back then Miriam and Aaron BOTH spoke against Moses, the Lord got angry and ONLY Miriam became leprous. (You can bet Aaron was shaking in his boots)! Aaron was as guilty as Miriam, BUT HE HAD TO LOOK AT MIRIAM AND PRONOUNCE HER GUILTY AND LEPROUS, because he was the Priest, and that was his job. He stayed healthy while she was sent outside the camp to live in the Leper colony for 7 days, before the Lord would heal her. In today’s language? You and a friend EQUALLY do a bad deed together, you both get caught, he gets sentenced to 7 days in jail, and you have to tell him, “Your sentence is Just, so be it”. And you walk away scot free, and you and everybody ALL KNOW you’re just as guilty as your friend. How do you live with that? WE HAVE ALL DONE THIS, WE ARE ALL GUILTY, AND ALL DESERVE PUNISHMENT. But Christ, in His Mercy, has Paid our debt, He Died in our place, AND WE ARE FREE, (to continue to rail against the preacher)? Or Free to Praise Christ.? Does this kind of Love and Forgiveness make you run to Christ to ask Forgiveness for ALL your sins so that you too can, Be Blessed???
