Daily Devotional. If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; IF MY PEOPLE, WHICH ARE CALLED BY MY NAME, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:13-14. The Lord is calling His people to humble themselves, and He will Bless them. Christians like to use this verse and look for the Blessing. Let’s look at this from another angle, maybe as a second consideration. The Lord is asking if He needs to do some serious destruction to get His people’s attention. Ok, and what if this is ALSO a call to the “walking dead” people, to get their attention as He calls them to come to Christ and Salvation? These are people God is calling out of the world and into Christ. The growing Tribulation is going to weed out the “Lord Lord” people from the church, and it will also be a wakeup call to the blinded and hard of hearing to heed the Call to Christ. Many people are Growing cold, hard, and crusty towards the Lord, but that won’t stop the Lord from calling them anyway to Himself. He just might need to deal a little harder to get their attention. But when He does, they’re His for Life. The Lord knew before time began if you were going to Follow Christ or not, and He started calling you long before you were saved. You keep Praying for your friend’s Salvation, don’t give up, it still may take a while. They’re dead, remember? And when they do choose Life, we will ALL someday Rejoice with them. Even if it takes drought, locusts, and pestilence to wake them up, God can do it. He did you! Keep Praying, don’t give up, and someday, together, we will ALL, Be Blessed.
