Daily Devotional – MORNINGTIME 1576

Daily Devotional. All ye beasts of the field, come to devour, yea , all ye beasts in the forest. (Lies and deception wanting to devour the flock, to enter the city). HIS WATCHMEN, (those watching out for lies and deception), are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and THEY ARE SHEPHERDS THAT CANNOT UNDERSTAND: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter. (They look out for their own interests, not for the safety and protection of others). Come ye, say they , I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant. (Today is a good day, and tomorrow will be just as good, if not better). Isaiah 56:9-12. Back in the day, this was a scathing rebuke from Isaiah to watchmen and shepherds. This same rebuke still applies today. Husbands, are you the watchman, protector, priest, over your family? Are you watching for lies and deceptions trying to sneak in to devour your family? Pastors, the same question for you and your flock? Watchman, again, the same question over your circle of influence? Do you cry out to anyone when you see trouble coming? Or do you say to yourself, “I see trouble, but it won’t bother us, we’re ok, I’ll deal with it later, I don’t want to upset anybody, they don’t really want to hear anyway. Life is good, we’re blessed, all is well… (yawn), we’ll look again, tomorrow, sleep well”. If we say, “I’m ok, you’re ok”, what is our OK standard? Our thoughts and feelings, OR THE WORD OF GOD? Does “Thou shalt not…” still carry any weight, any importance? Are you listening to the Lord, or just the nightly news to warn you? Your loved one’s lives are at stake. Love your neighbor, and, Be Blessed.
