Daily Devotional. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:2. Take a moment, or two, or if you need, three, and think about all the things in one day, you think about. Write them all down if you need to keep them in order. The idea is, what do you think about, and of those things you think about, how many of them do you like, enjoy, or mull over longer than you should? How much time and effort do you put into these thoughts? On the other side of the coin, how many thoughts do you think about about the Things of the Lord? Do His Thoughts take up a major part of your day? Or do those Other thoughts win out the majority of your time? This is a self-examination for you to figure out just how closely, or how distant, you are following; “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth”. Even when you have a spare moment and daydream, are your thoughts about a burden the Lord has given you and how He wants to accomplish it, or about some useless dribble that will mean nothing as soon as you stop thinking on it? Very few will actually read this verse and take it as a personal challenge to drive towards Holiness, Righteousness, and Purity. When Jesus was talking about Salvation, He said, “Few there be that find it”. Of those people who think themselves, Saved, how many will examine their thoughts and affections and make whatever adjustments that are necessary to desirously obey this verse and head for CHRISTLIKENESS? Will you choose to be one of the few to seriously undertake a task as tough as this? Do so, and you will Greatly, Be Blessed.
