Daily Devotional. Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee: But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves: For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: Exodus 34:12-14. This is basically telling us today, when you move into the Promised Land, salvation in Christ, no longer continue to partake of the old ways you used to follow, trash them, get rid of them, throw them out, you can’t do that anymore. This is where the Holy Spirit starts to clean out the trash from your Heart, clean out the old heart attitudes you can’t use anymore, and take away the desires to do those things that He’s taking away. Remember, it’s not enough to have someone tell you, “You can’t do that Thing anymore”, that’s legalism and you go away feeling condemned. The Holy Spirit tells you, “You can’t do that Thing anymore, AND I’M GOING TO REMOVE ALL INTEREST YOU USED TO HAVE AND REPLACE IT WITH A GREATER LOVE FOR CHRIST, and you won’t even miss what it was you used to do”. This is how the Gospel works. God doesn’t just come into your life, rip out that most favorite thing you used to do, and end up taking all the “fun” out of Christianity. He not only takes out all the “fun”, he also takes out the love for, the need of, and the desire to do, the “fun” stuff. He takes out the Garbage, and fills the gap with more Love for Christ and HIS Ways. You’ll never miss the old pig slop He takes out as you grow closer to Christ. Legalism, you can’t do…. Mercy, because I have taken away the desire to do…. THAT’S LOVE, THAT’S GOD, Be Blessed.
