Daily Devotional. Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD. Leviticus 19:4. Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: FOR I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD. Leviticus 26:1. Looks like the Lord is pretty specific about not wanting ANYTHING before Him. And I would suspect that He doesn’t want anything behind Him either. As in, (for example), ok God, that was a good talk this morning, I’ll think about it, uh, later, after the game. Let’s look at the 1 hour each week that most people who go to church, go to church. You Preachers have them for only 1 hour to Preach Christ and Him Crucified. Can we say that ANYTHING other than the Gospel, preached during that hour is, (can we really say it?), idol worship!?!? If you only had 1 hour to live, then you die, would you want your family talking to you about the weather next week? Or the really important stuff about Life? In one sense, God also only has 1 hour to Preach Christ. And you want to talk about the super bowl, how good and honorable mothers, or fathers, are, or 20 minutes talking about a war memorial??? Your taking away time from God. If you pass by God and go to a worldly thing, is that not idol worship? I understand different denominations have different ways, reasons, and procedures, of doing different things for the 1 hour of Service time, but straying from the Gospel into, not the Gospel, it still ends up, not the Gospel. And isn’t the Gospel the only “Thing” that can Save? But even worse, how about we just cancel service, not preach the Word here at all for, THE HOUR, and go…. does it matter where or why? It’s still no service.. No Service still means, I don’t serve You for Your 1 hour of allotted time at this location I usually serve You from. Let’s go back to GOSPEL SERVE, and, Be Blessed
