Daily Devotional. Surely He shall DELIVER thee from the SNARE of the FOWLER, and from the NOISOME PESTILENCE. Psalm 91:3. To DELIVER: to snatch away, deliver, rescue, save. SNARE: bird trap, trap, snare bird trap (literal) of calamities, plots, source or agent of calamity. FOWLER: fowler, trapper, bait-layer. NOISOME: desire, desire (in bad sense) chasm (figuratively of destruction) engulfing ruin, destruction, calamity. PESTILENCE: pestilence, plague murrain, cattle disease, cattle-plague. All that to say, it’s just what it sounds like. The enemy, Satan, sets traps of worldly desires and interests to try to catch you, to entice you to look at something you shouldn’t, or to go someplace you shouldn’t go to so that he can waste your time with frivolous glittery nothings that keep you away from the Lord. This is but one of many traps Satan sets for you, and the Lord is going to show you the trap before you fall for it, or that He will pull you away before it gets you. He may spring the trap so that you see the deadly intent the trap has for you before you get to it, or rescue you before you fall for it. Either way, you’ll see the Hand of the Lord Keeping you from harm. A Noisome Pestilence can be a “flu bug” going around the office, everyone in the office is catching it and the Lord says, “No, this is not for you, you’re not going to catch it too”. The point is this, as you grow in Christ He will show you the traps the enemy has set for you so you have “a way of escape” to walk past the trap and see it for what it really is. When this happens, this is where you turn and Praise and Honor the Lord for His Awesome Keeping Power, Mercy, and Grace. If we will listen, He’ll show us all kinds of traps Satan sets to try to catch Believers in. Satan may be the master deceiver, but he’s as nothing compared to Christ’s Saving Grace. God gets Praised, you get Saved, and you especially get to, Be Blessed.
