Daily Devotional. And the Lord said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it: And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite: Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: FOR I WILL NOT GO UP IN THE MIDST OF THEE ; FOR THOU ART A STIFFNECKED PEOPLE : LEST I CONSUME THEE IN THE WAY . And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ORNAMENTS . Exodus 33:1-4. (Ornaments were items of idol worship, little reminders of idols they were worshiping). God was angry with the people and was ready to leave the whole bunch of them out in the wilderness, turn His Back on them, and depart. But, God being a Man of His Word, said He’d send an angel to lead them into the Promised Land, and clear out all His enemies, to clear the way for the Jews to take possession of it all. Again, led by an angel, not God. THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! God was going to fulfill His Promises to Abraham, but He was going to have nothing more to do with them. The people were still playing in idol worship, following those little Loves of their Lives that took up all their time, leaving no time for God. They were just too busy, getting into useless squabbles, for Moses to have to take time to settle, and doing all that they wanted to do. That took up all day. “Sorry, no time for God, he’s very helpful and I believe in him, and I’ll catch up with him,,, Tomorrow, always Tomorrow”. What’s my point? Question. Is God still with you, or has He left you WITH His Promises, (I’m Blessed), AND HE’S ACTUALLY GONE??? Would you even know the difference if He’s here, or not? Any Idols in your life? Maybe you should ask Him, Obey, and then, Be Blessed?
