Daily Devotional- MORNINGTIME 1647

Daily Devotional. SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. John 5:39. STUDY TO SHEW THYSELF APPROVED UNTO GOD, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15. I asked a Pastor, (preaching for over 50 years), if he believed in the literal 6 days of Creation plus a day of rest. He said “Yes I do, it was an event, and the world was around for about 15,000,000 years before that”. I did not pursue an explanation of what he meant. My question is this. Just how much bible study are we to do? What is the point of solid bible study? If the Bible, the Word of God, has all the answers to everything we need to know, is it possible to study it too much? (I’m not talking about just head smarts or to pick fights, just a solid hunger for The Word). If you study, and the Lord reveals something to you, good, put it in the memory banks to pull up later as needed. As in Fellowship and iron sharpening iron. So you’re talking about the Word with a fellow Believer and you find you have a difference of understanding. (Remember, no picking a fight). Do you, A, say it doesn’t matter and part company, or B, go to the Word and try to get The Mind of Christ on it? Is the Bible the Final Authority as The Source of Understanding, or not? It all comes down to, just how Hungry are you, or your group, whomever, for the Word? Am I, are you, willing to trash our beliefs if they prove to be contrary to the Word? Is the Word just a tool to prop up a belief we want to hang on to, or is it THE TRUTH FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD, and we’d better listen and trash ANYTHING that proves contrary?..? This can make or break Fellowship, if one or more doesn’t want to hear and possibly change their thinking. It takes two to talk, how sad when one, or both, won’t listen. Listen to the Lord, and, Be Blessed.
