Daily Devotional – MORNINGTIME 1607

Daily Devotional. Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6:31-34. Let’s look at these verses the same way we look at Matthew 16:18. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Please read carefully. Jesus was saying upon HIM, The Rock, He would build the church. The Catholics say Jesus was going to build the church on Peter, A STUMBLING STONE. They missed the point completely. Back to the earlier scripture. The Lord knows we need food and clothes to just survive the elements. Now, see what’s next, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all THESE things shall be added unto you”. What “things”? All the Things of the Kingdom and His Righteousness, the Things of Christ, Eternal Salvation, Righteousness, Holiness, Purity, Peace, and Joy… The list goes on and on. For centuries Christians have suffered and died in many ways, many horrible and lingering painful deaths. Only the prosperity preachers will tell you life is easy with your Cadillac parked by your mansion next to the bank, if you will just “believe”. With your eyes on Christ, care for food and clothing goes out the window. The Lord has to remind us of these little things because our eyes are on the BIG Thing. Go for the Robe of Righteousness, the Bread of Life, the Water of the Word, and, Be Blessed.
