Daily Devotional. Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words. Jeremiah 18:18. Notice, this is verse 18. Give heed to me, O Lord , and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me. Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle. Jeremiah 18:19, 21. Now notice this is verses 19 & 21. THE BATTLE OF THE TITANS. The first group, “group 18” are a bunch of evil, unholy, ungodly, self-righteous men who claim to know “the truth”, and believe that Jeremiah is a heathen liar. They, themselves, are deciding THEY want to take out Jeremiah. Now look at the “group 19 & 21”, Jeremiah himself, claiming HE knows the truth and the rest of them are liars. One group of “righteous” against another group of Righteous. Here’s the difference, Jeremiah is going straight to the Lord to talk the situation over with HIM and ask HIM to deal with it. Group 18 is going to take care of the problem with the ways of man. Group 19&21 is asking the Lord to take care of it. Now look up verse 20, this is Jeremiah still trying to intercede for evil men, even knowing they have desired evil for Jeremiah. This is a “look at their fruits” test. Evil men go to evil men for help. Godly men go to God for help. OK, you don’t know either “groups” heart, but you can know them by Their Fruit. Is this Judging? Or Discerning? You decide, and, Be Blessed.
