Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them, (the church), about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:41-42. Let’s make up 2 lists of the church during the time of Acts, and the church of today. On the left side is the early church that grew by thousands weekly. On the right is the church of today that is also growing weakly. Left, they prayed unceasingly. Right, they prayed uncertainly. On the left, they moved in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. On the right, they removed the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. On the left, And all that believed were together, and had all things common; Acts 2:44. On the right, And all that were together believed, to each their own. On the left, And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. Acts 2:43. On the right, No fear came upon every soul, and no wonders and signs were done by anybody. On the left, And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Acts 2:46. And on the right, And they continued generally once a week in the church with very little singleness of heart. Sadly, and last, on the left, No one kept records of any numbers, the church was growing so fast. On the right, all kinds of numbers are kept to encourage us when one or two get saved and join the church. A sad state of affairs. Be Blessed.
