Daily Devotional. Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry. Acts 17:16. For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, (or, gods that ye worship), I found an altar with this inscription, to the unknown god . WHOM THEREFORE YE IGNORANTLY WORSHIP, him declare I unto you. Acts 17:23. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Exodus 20:3. (Thou shalt not have ANYTHING before me). Or, (I will not tolerate taking second place in your life, by something you seek more than ME). (Anything that gets more of your time and attention than ME, is idol worship). God is not happy if He is not first, and only, in your Life. The people of Athens worshipped anything and everything, and just to be sure they got them all, they added, to the unknown god. Those people were so silly back then, I’m glad we don’t do anything like that today! Oh Really? We do the exact same thing today, IN THE CHURCH!!! I’M TALKING CHURCH GOERS TODAY. This is another aspect of the “Lord Lord” people. They do wine, women, and song, gluttony, TV and entertainment, lots of sports, (the way they’re doing it is idol worship, no time for God), but just to make sure they have all their gods covered, they go to a “christian church” to look good to the neighbors and give this god his 2 cents worth. Remember, this guy thinks he’s a “christian” because he parroted a little prayer and the preacher said he was now a christian. All the gods in His life get their just due. He has no clue Who the God of the Bible is, he just worships all of them. Do you have any idols in your life? Are you sure? Ask God, and, Be Blessed.
