Daily Devotional. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15. Imagine a blank painter’s canvas in front of you that is 2 feet high and 5 feet wide. The painter has a bucket of pure white paint and a bucket of pure black paint. He starts painting pure black at the left side edge, slowly adds white, and slowly eliminates black until he has painted to the right side of the canvas a pure white paint. The whole canvas is a transition from pure black to pure white. To look at the finished painting up close you can’t see even the slightest color change. But if you step back a few feet and compare two places a few inches apart, you start to notice slight changes. This painting would be hard to see in a dimly lit room, but in a bright room with a spot light aimed at the picture, you are able to spot all the shading differences. Today, in “the church” there is every kind of teaching you can imagine, from pure satanic heresies, all the way to the Pure Word of God, and everything in between. To look at a “theology” by itself, it will look right and believable. You can find just the one you want to follow, somewhere on the canvas. And no one can tell you you’re wrong because you believe what you believe. ONLY when you shine the Light of the Word of God on your theology can you make a realistic comparison of what you believe, and what God says. ONLY by His Word can you understand how much white and how much black is in your theology. Now the hard part. If you see a difference, are you willing to ask the Lord to take the black out? That you trash your ways and do things His way? That you change your mind, to the mind of Christ? This is Growth, this is maturing in CHRISTLIKENESS, this is GOoD, get the black out, Be Blessed.
