Daily Devotional. This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest WAR A GOOD WARFARE ; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: 1 Timothy 1:18-19. What did Christ come to this earth for? Some people ONLY want to remember Him as a cute cuddly little baby in a manger where He can never hurt anyone. That was a nice start, but it Grows to end with Christ AS A RETURNING CONQUERING KING LEADING AN ARMY. What is the church supposed to do? Well, right now here in America, we pretty much just lay around enjoying the fruits of OUR labors, welcoming visitors to OUR church, and preaching / teaching stuff we want people to feel comfortable with so they won’t leave and head out the door. WE raise money so WE can lavish OURSELVES with stuff WE want and want to do. And just to feel¬¬¬¬ morally and spiritually justified, we go visit someone and tell them about a christ we may, or may not know. And the “Cream of the (rotten) crop” is, WE will occasionally declare someone a christian because THEY said or did a thing WE told them to say or do. About 95% of the churches in America “Do Their Own Thing” and hardly talk with anyone of a slightly different faith. How many different types of beliefs do you have in your “denomination” alone? And THEY barely talk to each other. Here’s my point. Every single individual church (congregation) believes they are doing it right, based on whatever they believe right to be. And they can be so hard-headed they can wither on the vine, and close the doors, (no one comes anymore), STILL believing they are right and everyone else is wrong. A “sister” church closes their doors, “Oh, what a loss”, AND THAT’S IT, NO ONE ASKS WHY, no one cares, we’re still right, they missed it, we’re about god’s business and we will, Be Blessed.
