Daily Devotional. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, THE SAME BRINGETH FORTH MUCH FRUIT: FOR WITHOUT ME YE CAN DO NOTHING. John 15:4-5. Have you ever considered this verse about fruit as talking about people getting saved, as in, Be fruitful and multiply? That may very well be a good thought about this. Be a Soul Saver, you AND the Holy Spirit. But let’s look a little closer. Think of the Fruits as the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23. If these are Fruits, and they are, and they grow on the Vine, Christ, and we are branches from the vine, than the Holy Spirit growing His Fruits in us, is a big deal. It means us Believers, Followers of Christ, are going to be cut, pruned, dead wood broken off, and cut down to size, all the day long. Just the idea that God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit will all 3 gang up on us, just to rip off more junk in our lives, ought to bring tears of JOY to our eyes. Think about it, God is going to work us over, cause all kinds of (growth) pain and suffering, and just for good measure, rip us up one side and down the other. AND WE WILL THANK HIM AND PRAISE HIM for all HE’S doing to……..draw us into Purity, Righteousness, and Holiness. To continue to Grow into CHRISTLIKENESS. And anything else the Lord wants to do. We get to suffer, and He gets as the PRAISE for it. What a deal, we ALL win. Who else but God can call us out of our shells, Purify us, and we Praise HIM all the way to, The Cross. What a Great Deal.
