Daily Devotional. And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see; And ere THE LAMP OF GOD WENT OUT IN THE TEMPLE OF THE LORD, WHERE THE ARK OF GOD WAS, and Samuel was laid down to sleep; That the Lord called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I. 1 Samuel 3:2-4. Understand that the lamp of God was a physical lamp that was to ALWAYS give out light, it was never to go out under any conditions. This is also speaking of the Light, the Direction and Instruction of the Lord, in the temple, the church, to the people, the congregation. In today’s terms, in the church, the Word of the Lord is going out, and the ways of the world are getting “brighter”. There is nothing different today, than in Eli’s day. He slowly drifted away from God’s Word, into other words that sound good, but are not from God. This doesn’t have to be from an intentional denial of the Truth, but a very slow moving away from the original call of the Lord on and in your Life. A little less Reading, a little less Praying, a little less preparing to Minister the Word, and it just comes out as a word with no power behind it. It can happen with the simplest of innocent ideas. For example, trying to preach in a way that will attract young people. Without young people a church can die. But without THE WORD ministering to young people, all you’ll have is dead, young people. It takes Life, to grow a church. Without the Light, the Life, of the Lord to shine on Sin, there is no sin to see, therefore with no sin in the church, THE CHURCH IS DOING JUST FINE, ASK ANYONE. When The Word is ministered, the Holy Spirit shines His Light on Sin, Repentance comes forth, and lives are changed. Now, the church Grows. With no Life, no Repentance, there can be no growth in the Lord, only a growth in man. Then it takes a work of man to keep man in church. This will be a growing, Dead Church. Keep the Light, the Word of God, Bright, and, Be Blessed.
