Daily Devotional. And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, AND HIS EYES BEGAN TO WAX DIM, THAT HE COULD NOT SEE; And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep; That the Lord called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I. 1 Samuel 3:2-4. How did Eli go from being a man called of God, to be a Priest, and minister to the people as the Lord directed, to being a priest of Self and using the people as a supply for his own needs and heart’s desires? HE LOST INTEREST WHEN SOMETHING BETTER CAME ALONG. To be a man called of God, can be exciting. You can grow in the Lord, your ministry can grow, and everything’s looking good and prosperous. People look up to you and the church is growing. What’s wrong with that? Nothing, or, everything. Look at Eli, his eyes GREW dim, it wasn’t sudden, it was a slow process. A person doesn’t know he can see less and less, until he compares what he used to see, to what he now sees. Your vision will always be 20/20, until you notice a difference, IF you’re willing to notice a difference. Eli didn’t even notice the light had gone out in the church, both spiritually and physically. He also had no Vision from the Lord, for the people. What has the Lord called you to do? How are things looking today compared to the original call? Yes, you can say, “I’m doing great, all is well”, but will the people around you who Know and Love you say the same thing? Or something different? Are you even willing to ask, and if it’s not the same, will you listen to people who see things differently than you? Is it possible you can’t see your own blindness? Are you willing to open your eyes and possibly “see”? Your real Friends care about you, do you care enough about them, to listen, that you all may, Be Blessed?
