Daily Devotional- MORNINGTIME 1649

Daily Devotional. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:36-37, 41-42. This is the start of the early church in the Book of Acts. It was a very simple time, back then. The “church” of the day was pretty much dead. Christ comes on the scene with LIFE, and all those Hungry Souls flocked to Him and His Life Giving Message. It was so simple, Preach the Gospel, and Trust the Holy Spirit to bring Salvation to those who received The Word. Three thousand souls were saved at one service, they would go house to house to break bread and fellowship, they all shared their stuff, Preach a good sermon and you just might be dead before you get out the door, (right Stephen?), lie to the Holy Spirit and He’ll drop you dead in your tracks, (right Ananias and Sapphira?), yes, those were simpler times. Things are much more complicated today, there are major theatrical productions to do, the bigger the better, there are untold programs to keep hyped up, church trips to take near and far, christian wares to hawk, (gotta pay those church bills!), and, well, you fill in your blank. All these things are very important because it takes a lot to get people saved these days. You had, (in your church), what, 3 got saved two weeks ago, 1 last week, and hopes for 4 this week? Church is definitely growing. The fields are white unto harvest, and we are definitely very busy…. Be Blessed.
