Daily Devotional. Thus saith the Lord God; This is Jerusalem (America): I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her. And she hath changed my judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: FOR THEY HAVE REFUSED MY JUDGMENTS AND MY STATUTES, THEY HAVE NOT WALKED IN THEM. Ezekiel 5:5-6. This is Judgment being pronounced against Israel for not obeying the Lord. They were more blessed than anyone else in the world, and have turned their backs on their Blesser, the Lord. Is it really a stretch to insert the name of America into this curse? Have we not done far worse than Israel in turning our backs against Him Who has so greatly Blessed us? When people disobey the Lord, is His Judgment different for one country than another for the same sin? America is in the beginnings of Judgments pronounced against US. Now the hard part. America as a nation will suffer, BECAUSE THE CHURCH IN GENERAL HAS TURNED ITS BACK ON THE LORD AND NOT CALLED SIN, SIN, AND DEALT WITH IT. We churches brag about how blessed we are because of this and that that the Lord is doing in our midst, and to some degree this is still true, BUT ARE WE KEEPING HIS JUDGMENTS AND STATUTES AS HE HAS TOLD US TO??? What are we, the general church, doing differently and better today than Israel was doing back in Ezekiel’s day? If Israel was (is) the Apple of God’s Eye and judgment was pronounced for her sins, HOW CAN WE EXPECT TO FARE BETTER FOR DOING THE SAME, AND WORSE? Only a fool will believe “We’re America, and God is love”, like that’s worth any brownie points. Are YOU obeying God’s Judgments and Statues that you too may, even in the midst of tribulation, Be Blessed?
