Daily Devotional. Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the Lord your God. Leviticus 26:1 This is talking about anything that is a picture, painting, stature, or movie that tries to portray an image of Christ, God, or the Holy Spirit. At the last, it would be like drawing a very basic, unprofessional, stick figure picture of my Pastor and his family and telling you this is what they look like. It doesn’t even start to do them justice. We can’t convey the Love and Kindness this family has towards others in a stick figure. It’s impossible. Trying to make a picture or image of Christ is just as useless an idea, and more. The other side of the coin is, GOD SAID DON’T DO IT. What part of don’t do it do we not understand? Our churches are full of them. Even bibles and Sunday School literature have images of “Christ”. Paintings and tapestries are full of them. Have you seen The Last Supper picture anywhere? Movies with Jesus in them? Usually brown hair, brown eyes, or blond hair, blue eyes, and ALWAYS with long hair. These are images of man’s creation, and ALWAYS wrong. Does God say, Make no images of Me, ever, but I’ll bless this new movie about my Son with long hair and what you want to make Him look like??? God says NO, we yell back YES, and we’ll make money on it!!! Is there something wrong with this picture? Again, are we stuck in our traditions, AND WON’T CHANGE? Are we willing to go and clean house and throw out this garbage? Am I too harsh? Wrong attitude? Legalistic? Ok, I’ll back off, you tell the church why you want to throw Jesus in the trash, because God says to. Do you want to Teach the church all about the Attributes of Christ and fill their Spirit, or give them an image of Christ pleasing to the eyes? Trash christ, follow Christ, and, Be Blessed.
