AND THE PEOPLE ANSWERED HIM NOT A WORD. 1 Kings 18:21. This is a hard place to be. The Preacher says to follow One or the other and the people are stuck in the middle not knowing what to do. The Lord is calling them and they either don’t, or don’t want to, follow Him. On the other hand, following the other just doesn’t work either because there is no Peace with a counterfeit. They know the world can hurt them and they have no Faith that the Lord can help them. These are the Lord Lord people who always seem to be in turmoil and confusion. They have no confidence about anything. They are along for the ride, they just don’t know where they are going. Their theology is like the waves of the high sea. Whatever looks like it’s on top today is what they believe, today. Preach Christ, they agree, preach a smooth word, they agree. Just sound authoritative and throw in a bunch of scripture verses, they’ll fall for everything because they don’t Believe anything. They are on display for an hour or two on Sunday morning. (They don’t come Sunday night or Wednesday night). They can generally “hold it together” that long. Everyone’s on their best behavior hoping to make it home without some problem. It’s a sad bunch of people agreeing with you and using the right lingo when you try to talk to them about the Lord, but never really grasping what the Lord is really all about. They are a sad people putting on a good face, until they have to face the Sadness of never seeking the Face of Christ. Now is the time to Seek Christ, and, Be Blessed.
