Daily Devotional. Then I said, I will not make mention of him (the Lord), nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay, (I could not hold it in, I could not contain the Gospel, I could not keep it to myself). Jeremiah 20:9. Jeremiah was a prophet, a seer, in the Old Testament. Prophet; spokesman, speaker, prophet. Someone who speaks a word from the Lord. Many times it was a word about the future, but it was a word from the Lord nevertheless. Jeremiah tried to contain, hold in, the Word of the Lord. It was too much for him to handle, he had to speak it out. It was too powerful to be kept in a box, or under a basket. It had to come out and shine Life into dead places. Ok, so you’re not a “prophet”, but can you contain, hold back, from telling the Good News of Jesus Christ? If a person is a True Follower, a Believer, of Jesus Christ, it doesn’t matter what his title or tag is, he can’t keep the Gospel shut up in His bones. The fire of the Gospel will eat away until it finds a way out. This Life of Christ will spread like wildfire. It will burn 7 times hotter like a raging inferno and will purify all silver and gold in its path. It will burn off the dross and make ashes out of wood, hay, and stubble. It will decimate self, flesh, and the old man nature. It will lay waste to worldliness. Nothing and no one will survive what is not of Christ. Death comes to all without Christ. Death is the lack of Life. The Gospel is Life, and is in those of Christ, waiting to be shared with the dead, that Life will reign. Love, Live, Be full of Life, Preach the Gospel, and, Be Blessed.
