Daily Devotional. Get Wisdom, get Understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the Words of My Mouth. Forsake Her not, and She shall PRESERVE thee: love Her, and She shall KEEP thee. Wisdom is the Principal Thing; THEREFORE GET WISDOM: and with ALL thy getting GET UNDERSTANDING. Proverbs 4:5-7. The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets. Proverbs 22:13. (More Exaggerated Illustrations). The term “slothful” seems a little harsh, but we’ll run with it and you decide to whom it actually applies. This last verse is showing the slothful (lazy?) man has been told, or maybe he just WANTS to believe, that there is a lion SOMEWHERE outside, in the streets. IF there actually is a lion, his exact whereabouts is unknown as the verse uses the word “streetS”. The point here is that the slothful man is greatly afraid of something that may not be. This man is afraid of the POSSIBILITIES of what COULD be. If your neighbor calls you and says, “John, stay in your house with the door closed, THERE IS A LION STANDING ON YOUR FRONT PORCH”, NOW you have something to MAYBE be concerned about. And yet, even if this were actually True, nowhere does the Bible give us Permission to be afraid OF ANYTHING! Let’s keep going, even if a very bad man is roaming YOUR street, AND THE LORD TELLS YOU TO GO OUTSIDE AND PREACH CHRIST TO HIM, no matter WHAT the consequences will be, WOULD YOU GO??? In 1 Samuel 15:22 it says, in part, “… Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,…” also means, Don’t try to keep that which belongs to the Lord when He asks you to give it to Him for His Purposes. EVEN IF IT MEANS YOUR LIFE! If the Lord Says GO, and be Obedient, EVEN IF IT COSTS YOU YOUR LIFE, will you go? (If we’re still here), ARE YOU AFRAID of what the Man Of Sin, the antichrist MAY do, COULD do, possible WILL do, IF YOU GO OUT INTO THE STREET TO PREACH CHRIST? How many Prophets, Missionaries, and Preachers went out to Preach Christ KNOWING their death would GREATLY, Be Blessed?
