Daily Devotional. Thou hast put gladness in my heart, MORE THAN in the time that their CORN and their WINE increased. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for THOU, LORD, ONLY MAKEST ME DWELL IN SAFETY. Psalm 4:7-8. Gladness = “mirth, gladness, joy, gaiety, pleasure”. It’s a wonderful thing to plant a crop and get a really big harvest out of it. So much so that you have enough for you, and a lot left over to sell or give away. The joy and satisfaction of enough and even more, is a small thing compared to the True Gladness that only the Lord can put into your heart. This is where your gladness, True Gladness, can’t come from stuff, no matter how blessed you are because of it. The Gladness of the Lord will stay with you through thick and thin, no matter what. And the part about dwelling in safety, that’s really good. The Safety IN The Lord doesn’t necessarily mean the peace of no one ever bothering you, although when that does happen, it really is a nice thing. This Safety is ALSO talking about you living Safely In Christ. What they try to do to your body is not on your list of things to fear. It means no one, neither Satan nor man will be able to shake you loose from your Faith and Trust in God. No matter what kinds of words or actions come against you, they can’t overcome the Words or Actions of the Lord on your behalf. You have man’s words, and you have The Words of Jesus, The Christ. Which ones are you going to listen to and Believe? Having “Seen” Christ, as a Believer you KNOW that His Words can be Trusted, no matter what man says even when he’s standing next to you. NOTHING can separate you from the Love of Christ. His Words and Love will carry you into, and through Eternity. Man’s words will blow away as dust. Only the Love, Joy, Peace, and Safety of the Lord will stay closer to you than the air you breathe. For that matter, the air you breathe will help you stay alive. The Breath of The Lord IS LIFE. Breathe Safely in Christ, and, Be Blessed.
