Daily Devotional. Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. Job 1:9-12. This discussion is ONLY asking a question. Their will be no Judging, Criticism or Condemnation of your answer, only the question posed about YOUR version of right and wrong, faith and foolishness. In America today we have many Biblical Protections, (Thou shall not kill), and man made protections, (you have the right to protect your family and property). Where would Job stand today with his “Rights” at one end, and his “Faith” at the other end of the scale? In today’s language, Job had no Protection from bands of murderous thieves, and just let them kill his servants. Abraham, on the other hand, took his well trained AND WE’LL ARMED servants to get back his “family” from the five kings, and succeeded. Here’s the question that only you can answer for yourself. Should Job have armed his servants with guns and AK-47’s to protect Job’s stuff? Should Abraham have had more Faith and Trusted the Lord to keep his nephew Lot, and all Lot’s stuff, safe, without violence? Where do you stand on keeping YOUR family and stuff safe from marauding bands of murderers and thieves? And where do you stand with the Lord in Trusting Him and His Hedge of Protection around you, your family, and your stuff? How do you balance Faith, “Rights”, the Law, and the Lord, in these situations? This question goes from, “Every man was a Law unto themselves” to, “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away”. Only you and your God can answer that for your life to greatly, Be Blessed.
