And the LORD said unto Moses, DEPART, AND GO UP HENCE, (to the Promised Land), THOU AND THE PEOPLE which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, UNTO THE LAND WHICH I SWARE unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, UNTO THY SEED WILL I GIVE IT: And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite: Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: FOR I WILL NOT GO UP IN THE MIDST OF THEE; FOR THOU ART A STIFFNECKED PEOPLE: LEST I CONSUME THEE IN THE WAY. Exodus 33:1-3. Because of His Promises to their Forefathers, the Lord was obligated to bring SOMEONE into the Promised Land. But it had to be a people at least half way willing to put one foot in front of another in enough Obedience to at least somewhat willingly Follow the Lord. Of these adult Jews, ALL BUT 2 were not willing to even do that. It was constant bickering and complaining so the Lord said, Fine, you don’t want to go into the Promised Land? Then you stay out here and die in the desert and when you rebellious adults are all dead, THEN I’ll take your kids in and Fulfill My Promises to them. It took 40 years for all those adults to die in the desert before the “clean and untainted” children were grown up enough to then Follow The Lord into the Promised Land. At the time the Lord spoke this, all the children were under the age of 20. Add 40 years wasted in the desert, and these “young people” would all be 60 years old and less with enough interest to Follow the Lord as He lead them into this land flowing with Milk and Honey. The Lord wouldn’t drag anyone then into His Promises, and He won’t drag you into His Gift of Salvation today either. He’s shown ALL of us on planet Earth His Goodness and Mercy and simply asks us to Believe and Obey His Promises to a Better Life. If you kick and argue with Him for too long, He will let you also “die in the wilderness” of Sin and Unbelief, (Hell), and never, Be Blessed.
