Daily Devotional. He (Jesus) said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, (one pound to each servant), and said unto them, Occupy till I come. And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: BECAUSE THOU HAST BEEN FAITHFUL IN A VERY LITTLE, HAVE THOU AUTHORITY OVER TEN CITIES . Luke 19:12-13,15-17. Among other things, this is a mathematical concept called “exponential increase”. In this case, one pound invested wisely grew to ten pounds, which grew to ruling over ten cities. All because the servant Loved his master and wanted his Master’s desires to be realized. This servant wasn’t looking for what HE could get personally, but what he could do to grow his Masters portfolio. This is putting others first and our own personal gain last, or not even to be considered. It’s ALL about Pleasing the Master. To expound a little more, this servant understood that his Master was First and Foremost, and that he, the servant, had NO concerns for his own welfare. He knew he would live or die at the whims of his Master. The Master was EVERYTHING, and the servant was nothing. AND THE SERVANT WAS HAPPY WITH THAT, he was fully contented to receive nothing and give his Master everything. Even the servant’s very life was in the very capable Hands of the Master. And even more, the servant was happy to live, and die, in Total Service to the Master. Can we, you and I, be willing to do Christ’s Bidding with absolutely NO concern for our own safety? That we will live, and die, in service to our Lord? That no matter what He asks of us we will do and He receives all Praise and Glory to, Be Blessed?
